Things to know
š¾ Auto Save
- Auto-save runs in the background and shows a live countdown in the footer at right corner.
- Do not keep multiple editor tabs open if you want to avoid confusion about which auto-save will be restored.
- Assets larger than 500 KB are not embedded in auto-save to keep browser storage stable.
- Auto-save does not preserve your assets ā project structure is saved, but binary assets (images, audio, video) are not stored in the browser for retrieval.
- For safety, save your project locally after each stable version or at regular intervals using Save Project.
ā” Performance
- Avoid uploading heavy assets directly ā large files slow down the editor and increase project file size.
- Use externally hosted assets (images, audio, video) for best performance ā paste a URL instead of uploading the file.
šļø Asset Library
- Remove unused assets from the Asset Library regularly to keep your project lean and exports fast.
šļø Course Preview
- Do not rely on the Preview menu to confirm linear navigation behavior ā open-menu behavior in preview may not reflect final linear-navigation restrictions exactly.
- Do not rely on Course Preview for uploaded audio or video validation ā heavy media assets may not be available in preview, so audio and video can fail to load or play there.
📝 Storyboard Import / Export
- Use .course files for same-project continuity, styling, layout, assets, and full project fidelity.
- Storyboard .docx and .pptx files support course title, page names, Glossary/Resources content, page text, questions, options, feedback, and simple interaction copy.
- Glossary/Resources visibility is not a storyboard setting. A fresh import includes sections with content; a same-project update preserves the existing player settings.
- To preserve styling, export the storyboard from the same project, edit only field values in Word or PowerPoint, then import that storyboard back into the same .course project.
- Do not edit [SB:...] marker lines, field labels, fixed player labels (Contents, Previous, Next, Glossary, Resources), styling, layout, or asset bindings.
- Organization-specific Word or PowerPoint storyboard templates are not imported directly unless converted to the Course Builder Storyboard Template format.
